Hmmm...interesting. That rig looks like a good striper rig if the bait normally drifts away from the hook?.....definitely less helicopter than the 10-15inch fluoro leaders I use (use to use 2 feet). I've tried those 3-4inch leaders, but it definitely reduces the numbers of bass (blues don't mind) and those breakaway clip down rigs are too expensive for me (my spots have snags).

It doesn't drift away..
Drum don't seem to care, but stripers do... I still like at least 7" bite leader on my striper rigs

To me it doesn't look any different from what I use except that there is no real seperation between the bait and the fish finder and sinker. I usually use about a 5 in piece of leader in between. I bet you can get more distance with that but there can't be much bait movement on the bottom if any at all.
The striped ones don't mind it @ all.. Dawg

The 130 allows you to be able to walk up and just grab the leader..And hoss that big cow up on da beach.. Plus as an added bounus when the doogies are thick, and they wear your leader a bit ya just cut your snell off and re-snell on the same leader, which saves time and tying.. Distance with this rig is why I switched to it.. Took me about a year to get used to it and trust it but after this spring and fall its the only thing I am useing and only thing I plan to use in the future.. :)

so after the weight settles in...you give the line some slack to allow the bait to move away from the weight??
No different send it out there fish it... It catches fish just like any other rig will just gives ya a little more pop.. JAM :)

I thought so at first too,Don,but they do work, and haven't noticed a dropped bait because of it... I've laid it down in the water and let it wash over.. The head sticking straight up.. I'm going to try it when chumin cobes this yr too..

Thats good stuff there JAM. Thanks, I'll give it a try in the spring. The only problem I see is me trusting it.

I switched to this recently and not having the helicopter effect really helps in getting out a bit farther. I haven't nailed a striper yet but NOTHING else is scared of it!

It is unlikely that the bait will move away from the weight. If there is current, there will be more force against the bulk of the line on the rod side of the sinker... thus pulling the hook back against the sinker.
