Hey all, just wondering if anyone here thinks that all of us pier and surf fishermen need some sort of magazine,That would cover all aspects of our kind of fishing, from kings on a pier to pompano in the surf.

It would be cool  but i do agree with Jettypark that it all comes down to money. :(

It's work, but it can generate some bucks if done right, I suppose ... I work with a guy who's friend runs NJ Angler (njangler.com)... in fact, this guy I work with is pictured at their website in yellow overalls holding up his personal best striper ... OK, he caught it from a boat

Anyway, this guy who runs the magazine was a very successful IT professional pulling down decent bucks, but wasn't doing what he liked ... so now he is :D

this site gives me a lot more info and interaction than I could ever get from a Mag- from current reports to new methods and ideas - as long as we share info equally we all gain- w/o some nagging telemarketer asking us to renew for the umpteenth time.

I still get renewal requests from mags I haven't subscribed to in years- prolly will till the day I die :(

Why not!!! they have a magazine for just about every activity out there..why not have a "pier and surf fishing" magazine.

As far as advertising; Daiwa, Penn, Shimano, Tica, and almost all mfg's have gear that is made or suitable for surf fishing. I'm sure the tackle shops would get in on it to sell equipment and bait.

How many fishing mags or newsletters have we picked up each week and its cluttered with boating advertisement(mercs, yama, suzuki, honda). They have their own mags!!

Not that I have anything agains boats (I own one, and a yak).

My Wife Is A Executive At A Large Magazine And Book Distribution Center. She Could Possibly Direcet Who Ever Would Head This Up As To What Procedures To Follow As Well As The "nod" On What Publishers Would Help. If It Becomes A "go" Contact Me And I Will Get You In Touch With Her. She Deals With Publishers On A Daily Basis.

Frist of all.. i'd like to say Thank you all very much for everyone's feedback on this.I live in myrtle beach sc and this is an idea i have been working on for about a year and a half now. This will be one of those mags where It would be for everyone from the min wage blue collar worker to the company president.i'm the guy who is so tired of all the GOOD PEOPLE like us here who love's this sport and there is nothing out there published in mag style about PIER AND SURF FISHING.Yes PIERANDSURF.com is the best dam'n web site out there.I'm not doing this for the money, it's something that would cover all aspects of our love for pier@surf fishing.

i think its a great idea and wanted it for a while. you dont have to have high quality magazine like SWS but rather more like coastal angler. try to get as much money in ads as possible and charge for the issues. hopefully that will cover costs, and just need people to write the articles.

I considered this one myself a couple of years ago.

I subscribe to "On The Water" a magazine outa New England. Always felt that there was a market for a magazine like it that would cover the mid Atlantic.

I'd Subscribe:fishing:

Can I get one of those issues of P&S Magazine? Got to have it. :D Actually I would subscribe to something like that. I have quit on just about all of the so called fishing magazines because they don't have anything of the sort of fishing I like to do. Surf Fish your cover just about covers this board's spectrum. Maybe you should become an editor.

Find some old sub woofer speakers that were lying out by the road....

I would have to admit...I dont think I would subscribe.
I get a lot more useful info right here and this site is about one of the most interactive and helpful I've participated in.
I think a magazine would deviate from the true character you get with the up to minute information and fun jabs that Pier and Surf has to offer.

I guess I haven't read any paper media in quite a while. I figure if it's in print it's already old news.

I'm the Mad Shatter!

It only takes me about twenty seconds and I'm done....I dont find it very entertaining to sit there on the throne for that long in the stinch...(unless Suzzane is home, then I leave the door open)
Besides, Ill read the North Carolina Sportsmans Magazine about how to fish for(Drum, Spanish, Flounder, grouper, Kings, Seamullet,Cobia) WHatever.

Heres one though. I thought about leaving some 1oo lb test line, and some hooks and swivels in there from now on so I can sit there and snell some hooks.

Sit on there too long and you're going to have a vein hanging out on you.
