Hi everyone. I have been addicted to this forum since I found it last fall! Seems to be full of nice, knowledgeable and more importantly fishing crazed people! I joined this forum earlier this month mainly because of the great information on both distance casting, surf/pier fishing and equipment info that I have read. I make a few trips to Florida each year and try to get away for some surf fishing. Unfortunately for me I live in Michigan but I am anxious to try out surf fishing for salmon and steelhead here!;)

Welcome aboard !!
Don't you have nice Walleye and Lake trout up in those lakes? I have seen shows about fishing up there but then again they were usually doing it from a boat.

Where in Michigan do you live? I grew up there. Still have most of my family in Midland and Mason.
What rivers and lakes do you fish there?

Yes...lots of walleye and lake trout. A lot of flyfishing for salmon on the rivers as well. But there isa something about fishing from the beach that is more basic and enjoyable to me. Besides I have two young girls that like making sandcastles while we wait for the big ones:)

Orest,
I live in Oakland Twp. ( 45 miles north of Detroit) I fish the Ausable for browns in the summer. Pere marquette and Betsy for kings and steelies in Fall and Spring. I fish (surf/pier and boat Lake Michigan for all species :)
Midland is just a little south of the Ausable (I am sure you knew that)

or 2. Ice fishing on Houghton lake, Tip-Up Town USA for Pike, Walleye and Perch. Also the Saginaw Bay for Perch.
Spent lots of summer camping and fishing the UP as a kid with my parents and siblings. Fished the Fox and Two-Hearted rivers for Brookies. Pike Lake for Pike. Oh the memories are flooding back.

I grew up fishing the "holy waters" and the manistee river near sharon.. Great river there. I also Hit the PM for the runs. I am a salt fishingholic and still miss the feel of "up north". I just moved down to Vero beach yeah and a half ago. Used to live in Sylvan lake MI and still own a home there. Welcome to P&S..
