Yep! Got one used the other day and I really like everything but the palming side plate. I am old school I guess. It is going to be my heavy fish reel. (sometimes when I am not using my 545, or sl30, my 7500ct, etc.);)

I got one and I love it! I did remove the levalwind and the gear that turns the worm gear and it will cast as good as my sl30sh

I have the older style, not the BG.
Great braid reel, casts well fights well also. Also got the 6500LD. It doesn't cast very well(to much internal friction) but the drag is good, a boat reel.

you can remove the left hand side plate and remove the gear that turns the worm gear leave the worm gear in it wont turn anyway leaveing it in helps keep sand out of the reel. next remove the screw that holds the pawlto the wormgear and then the leval wind should come right off it will cast great
