line/knot ?

I was thinkin :rolleyes: and i got curious. how much would an overhand knot (or other) in your line actually weaken your fishing line and does this vary from mono to flouro or braid?

I'd really like to know if anyone has the answer to this question.

In the past it has been stated that a overhand knot tied in mono would weaken it by half. Braid, don't know.
Same for fluro.

However some of the suggested knots for joining mono to mono shock leader tie an overhand knot in the shock to start the connection. There is also a knot for joining braid to mono/fluro that involves putting the mono/fluro inside the hollow core of the braid & tieing an overhand knot.
