I was playing around with my Pro Rocket and noticed I think it needs the drag stack redone ... Upgrade would be with Carbontec and proabably new metal washers too

My question is how hard of a job is this .....

It's not bad at all, SC...Just lay 'em out in order, and put 'em back in reverse.

Nothing to it.

BEFORE spending any money, take out your existing drag stack and clean all washers and the main gear very thouroughly, and wipe 'em off with alchohol to remove any residue.

Re-assemble, making sure not to get oil, lube or ANYTHING in the stack, and you'll be very surprised how smoooth it becomes.

Not hard at all chunker, Just DON'T LOOSE THE LITTLE WASHER UNDER THE MAIN GEAR!! It sticks to the gear when you pull it off the shaft so watch for it.

how do I get to the drag washers and how do they come apart .... might try the cleaning first .... at least on the BY .... the PR is older so It might need it ..... that was the one I was playing .... Still didn't get the 2xbearing levelwind kit ...... comes with a new ceramic pawl?

Off to pratice ..... have camera and will shoot

Make sure the anti-reverse dog is in the right spot before ya button the reel up.

Not sure how to explain this to ya, but it's a problem I've run into when installing the Abu drag upgrades.

By the way, go with the Carbontex and metal lipped washers. You won't be disappointed.

As the guys already said, watch that little brass washer under the main gear. That thing will stick and fall out. :(

Surf there are several sites that have schematics. Just lay the parts out as you disassemble. As RR said not a big deal.

RR,no doubt that could be done, but in my experience with ABU reels the factory drag is junk,jmho...... IMO,spend the bucks, that way you have a dependable drag, along with a good casting reel... The drags are what caused me to sell every ABU reel I've got and upgrade to Diawa,or Penn.. The "smoothies" don't last, but the newer carbon ones are the ticket from what I have been told... All just an opinion.. :)
