I just want to share to you guys our freshwater fishing experience here in Cali.
Once my buddy Pancho and I got on our boat, we headed up Sierra Cove and basically parked there all day!!! We ended up with 35 total and kept 5 each for us. These fish are the best trout I have seen all season. They are healthy, thick, and just pissed. They hit like a ton of bricks when they hit, and feels like a ton of bricks when they pull. Tim Alpers(Infamous Trout Breeder), all I have to say is,
"you da man!!!!" The trout start hitting up plastics in the morning. Red/White 1/16oz Hustlur Jig method was the ticket, and so was an orange power worm on a size 8 mosquito hook witha 3 foot leader, topped of with a #7 split shot. The key is working the spit's current and learning the drift. Pancho was nailing them with the mouse.(White Amino egg w/ 2/3 inflated nc on a size 8 worm hook). It was WFO all day. The power worm bite got so hot and we ran out of power worms. So we improvised by using powerbait and jigged it and shaped it like power worms. The result was we started nailing quality fish at the end. 3lbs, 4lbs, and some pushing 5lbs. It was like fish crack to them.
