The very thing that makes our country great makes me sick. The big mouth herself enjoying the momentus wave of liberalism that is boiling from beneath following the termoil in Iraq. These people are like frickin crows coming to a dead carcass and I'm sick of em. They aren't country.
Where the hecks Toby Keith when you need him? I kept waitin for him to come out on a horse or in a ford and running them over.
Country music fans didn't vote for these gals, the left coast voted for em. I heard people were leaving in droves once they starting racking up the Grammies (5)! They get no play down here in my neck of the woods.
I don't give rats az about the music industry awards crap, but it chaffs my backside that these girls are making millions while our boys fight a war they didn't have the guts to support.
I'll never buy nothing they ever make if they're the last people making music if you can call it that....I'll listen to crickets and frogs first.
At least Red Hot Chilli Peppers scored a few.
My rant is over.

Willie Nelson I knew of, but dang this list is probably too long to suffer through. Sorry, didn't mean to contradict myself there. I guess the musical stage has always been a political platform.
I like country so the DC's stood out and the country music DJ's really socked it to em when they bashed the Commander in Chief. Jeeze, it's just not safe any more to turn on the music.

Me personally, I pay money for them to entertain me. I really don't care what they say "off screen" and usually does not affect the way they perform.
Exactly. A good song is a good song. Nobody can deny that some good music has been put out over the years from artists on BOTH sides of the political spectrum ( how bout Willie Nelson vs. Merle Haggard -- both great artists, different sides of the political fence. Or Dixie Chix vs. Toby Keith -- BOTH have done some great work IMO)
Any song in order to be great has to have a great melody -- lyrics are strictly SECONDARY

I've watched Jane Fonda's workout videos and found them very enertaining....better than her acting that's for sure.
The Dixie Chick (just one of em) much like Jane, opened their big mouths during a very vulnerable time for our Country when many democrates were crossing political lines to rally in support of the good ole USA & the President. Now their all turning tails and changing their tunes, while one man stands his ground. Perhaps I over reacted to what she did, but for whatever reason, my heart says to bump the Dixie Chicks and Hillary. Bump em all is what I say.

Don't get me wrong some artist i would enjoy to listen too. But the rest i wouldnt care less, hell i wouldnt even know them if i bump into them. :--| :--|
Here's a story for ya'll. One time when i lived in Nashville and was doing temp work they sent me to help set up for this church picnic charity thing. Afterwards we were all sitting around this big table eating and there was this blond hair lady sitting opposite me and a couple people came up to her and asked her for her autograph. Then she looked over at me and asked if i want one too and i was like "Uhhh sorry... i don't know who you are." She says i'm Faith Hill and starts laughing. Iwas like "Uhhh sorry .. I STILL don't know who you are." and just went back to eating ha ha. Nice lady though.
I don't really listen to much country music. I like some of the old stuff i guess

Country Music= Cash, Nelson, Jennings, Haggard, Williams SR, Jones, Kristofferson, Owens, Price and VERY few others. I don't give a flip about what some chick says about somebody in Washington... I just don't think they're country. The stuff coming out of Nashville right now=not country to me.

I agree with you..My family comes from Missouri, Kentucky and Southern Illinois and I love CW Music. The same things happened during Vietnam and one lady disgraced herself and the entire militry at the time. I still will not watch one of her movies. I will not listen to the Dizzy Chicks either.

:--| the Dixie Shicks!
Yes, I'd drop a favorite artist in a heartbeat with comments made like the DC Miss Piggy made. Had tickets to their concert when she made her true colors known. I threw them in the fire! Threw all the CD's under the truck tires and turned off the radio. Country ain't country when trash like that stands out in front!

Hmmmmm, let me see if I can come up with some other name to call the Dixie Chicks...
Whatever their viewpoints, I'm not letting someone I don't know get my panties in a knot.

As a friendly question:
How many of you do not/would not listen to a band due to their political stance?
Would you stop listening to your "favorite band" if you found out later you and they are on opposite ends of the politcal spectrum?
Yes.
Everyone is welcome to their own Political ideas, but they need to keep their personal Politics or Religion to themselves.
How about movie stars? Do you still watch their movies or shows?
Me personally, I pay money for them to entertain me. I really don't care what they say "off screen" and usually does not affect the way they perform.
I wouldn't spit on Hanoi Jane if she was on fire.
Musicians and actors are performers, just like a trained seal or circus monkey.
And I'm not interested in the Political views of any of them.

Thats the funniest thing I've read in a long time!
They pretty much gave the middle finger and said a big FU to the country establishment that made them who they are.
They don't want their country fans back.
The title to their album "Not ready to make nice" was a big FU to the fans.
Natalie Maines acceptance speech comments were an insult. She may as well said FU anyway.
The got an award they didn't remotely deserve. I listen to country music exclusively and have not heard one new song of the Dixie chicks album that supposedly is so great. How can you win multiple awards in a country category for an albulm that gets no airtime?
I prefer Darryl Worley, Toby Keith, and Hank Williams Jr.

I just seperate my politics from all my pleasures. Let's face it, politics is poison. If I'm looking for entertainment I just ignore whatever the various blowhard celebs have to say (right or left views) and go for whatever sounds or looks the best. The worst crap that ever happened to me was trying to fish my honey hole on a real productive day and have some yahoo trying to have a constant debate on illegal immigration with me. After a while I just turned and said "Do I look like a suit to you? Are there campaign signs with pictures of me in your front lawn? No? Then I don't give a S$%&!" Then I drank an ice cold  adn continued :fishing:
