it's about as simple of a setup as you can get. what kinda questions you got?

things like
Size?
Filtration?
Maintenance?
What do you feed them?
Substrate? I guess sand is easy enough
Rocks and other assorted things for the fish to hang out in?
I can't think of any others right now.
I figure I can easily get a small grunt to put in a tank.

it's not expensive at all..
-10 gal tank with clean ocean water
-cheap walmart filter
-when the water evaporates, i just add brita filtered water to fill it back up. salt will crust up on the top edges, i just knock the flakes back into the water and they dissolve.
-feed em anything from shrimp, mullet, menhaden, trout/flounder belly chunks, etc.
-i just bought some cheap aquarium gravel for the bottom. sand would work but i think it gets stirred up easier.
also got a hermit crab and some snails and mollusks in there to help keep it clean. the grouper pretty much likes to live alone as far as other fish go.

So where did u get the grouper? Did u catch it or purchase it? How big will it get? I'm thinkin about setting up a tank and was wonderin. I wonder if a silver seatrout would live in a aquarium. They don't get that big. :D

caught the grouper in the cast net back in august by accident. he's growin pretty fast and i'll probably release him this spring once the water warms a bit.
i've had the tank goin for quite a while with numerous species. i think i started with pinfish so i didnt really let the water sit or anything before adding them.

I caught a baby barracuda in a cast net this past summer. Now that would be kinda fun in a 50 gal til he got too big. :D

What are your ammonia/nitrate/nitrite levels like? I would imagine that you would need to do actual water changes (rather than merely topping off) to keep the levels down.

no idea on those chemical levels, all i know is that the only casualties i've had so far have been been homicides, no natural causes;) .
every now and then i vaccuum some of the crap off the bottom and end up replacing about 1/3 of the water with new ocean water but that's about it.
