Yep,
I have the same set up in my truck camper shell. That's where I got the idea from and I think Sandflea has the same set-up if I'm not mistaken, and it works great. Photo's are in my picture gallery.

Take a look at coldtuna.com. When I had my jeep a got a a setup from them on ebay and mounted it on 1x4 that hooked into the plastic trim. They have setups made specifically for vehicles for $39.

Hey Neil!
I use the rod straps made by Rod Saver.
I purchased them for 19.99 at Outdoorworld. Very simple to install.

P.S. When I built one for the Blazer, I added a block of oak under the front section to raise it up a little. Keeps the tips from constantly tapping me on the head.
Hey there Neil... Did my pm make it thru??

It's as simple as Berkely Twist-locks, a few oak slats, and ring pins. Total cost is under 20 bucks. You just have to make sure you measure well before you cut the boards down.
