I have a PGS2040C12, and it is the only factory built rod that I use. IMHO, it is the best bang for the buck! John

John I agree with CharmDropOut. These are real nice rods for the $$. I'm 67 and have a lot of miles one me. I don't carry the big heavies anymore. I primarily use a PGS 1220S80. This is an 8 ft 2pc. I do alot of backwater wading and also surf walking. I chose the 2 pc because I travel a lot and it is easy to ship in the tube. I mate it with either a 360 slammer or Boca pt 40. It's handled fish up to 15lbs nicely. I like the rods light weight and castability. Works well with lures and live bait. IMHO its great. Used it 18 mos and it's fine.

I have the PGS1530S11 (11ft for 2-5oz). Good rod for the money. Mine is the spinning version and is a good combo with my Daiwa Emblem. Has Fuji components-no complaints so far.

First rod I purchased for casting. Very happy with the way it loads and slings. Great deal for the $$$$. Randy at the Bait Shack has the best deal and will take care of you for all your tackle needs.

i have the heaver, the 2-5oz casting and the 1-4oz spinning and love each one. the only problem ive had with any of these rods is on the 1-4 spinning set up. the tip spins on me and i have to re align them every 10 casts or so. I think it has something to do with the tip being the male piece rather than the butt. other than that i think its without a doubt the best factory line of rods for the money

I will tell you Mark I have several surf rods-mainly st.croix, but the first surf rod I got was a 9ft. 1-4 oz spinning pro guide rod. I go to this rod almost every time I go out as my "go to" set up. I love this rod- from jetty hopping to the surf, to the delaware & chesapeake bays. I really love the action of this rod, and very durable. I highly recommend them, even though I am a big st.croix fan.

Stix, a tip that twists is not splined right. Send it back to Penn, even out of warranty. To stop it from twisting while fishing wrap the joint with electrical tape.
