How might one fix a slight burr or nick (rough spot) in the guide of a rod? Thank you.

A temp fix could be gel super glue, epoxy, wrap fishing line around, cut the ofending guide off, anything to keep the line from fraying.

Might want to post question in the rod building section. If it were me and it is a favorite rod I would pay to get the guide replaced. No sense taking the chance of losing a good fish to a bad guide.

A good shop will do it for about 8-10 bucks and they replace the guide. That is the real option. How quick they do it depends on your relationship.

Treednc,
One thing you can do and I have done it as well, is to get some 30 min epoxy gel, mix it very good and let it sit for about 10 min and then apply it over the nick. After it dries (at least 24 hrs) you can take some very fine sandpaper (I normally use 500 grit first) and sand it very lightly until you find that you cannot feel the epoxy anymore with your fingernail. Last step is to polish the epoxy with some 1000 grit paper and you should be good to go.
Now if the ring is broken all the way into, even though its still in the ring you need to replace it. I can help you out with that if want, I evidently don't live too far from you, just let me know.
Hope this works for you.

Yea seriously, just replace it. It's not worth the trouble to try to repair it especially when it will probably never be as good as new and likely to crack again. Guides are not that expensive and the negative consequences are pretty bad.
