i have a 9ft. tica that i would like to pair with a spinning reel for plugging. any suggestions on a good one without being to expensive? i dont want anything to heavy. but want to make sure line compacity is not an issue. i'll probably fill it with 12 or 14lb test suffix tritanium. any suggestions will be appreciated. thanks

daiwa tournamnt ss 1600

awesome reel...durable...casts far....good drag....plenty capacity with 12 lb tritanium for most "pluggable" specie(spanish,stripers,blues,)...

I have a Shimano 4500 baitrunner on my 9' Tica but I'm getting a 3500 and I'm going to put that on it. I really like the baitrunners they cast great and if I feel like parking my butt and soaking a clam I can do so.

3500,caught anything from stipers 38lb,big drum, and some big cobes as well on the same sized tica.. Good durable reels, that last a while...

I like using the Penn Captiva 5000 with the Captive 7' medium rod for pluggin around the sod banks while wading nice and light but has the power to subdue.

I use the Shimano 4000 series for that line class and they all work for me. The Diawa's appear to be near bullet proof from what I have been told. Looks to be a hard decession to mess up.

Any Diawa in the 4000 series or the 3500 series they are the same reel except that the spools are different depths with the holding a little 4000 more line.

Consider the diawa tournament II 2600 so that you can catch bigger fish like fat alberts way out there. Diawa and Shimanos are about the only two brands I would consider. It is more of a matter of which one will balance well and work with the size guides on the rod. A 6000 Shimano Spheros or Stradic is another nice reel for that size line /rod.

I use a 550ssg Penn Spinfisher for plugging. Excellent proven quality reel and since it's graphite very light. Casts well, sealed drag and plenty powerful enough to fight any big one you'll come across. I can plug with this reel all day without getting tired, whereas I have a captiva and also a slammer they are heavier and just not as friendly 3 or 4 hrs. into plugging. Just my 2 cents.
