I was going to hijack baldguys thread..then I was going to put this in the marketplace...But it ended up here,Whatever:cool:

O.K. most of y'all read the story of me and Robs weird day..well,I need to know which,if any, tip sections are interchangable with a RS1569 butt,If not does anybody have a tip they would part with, wrapped or not I do not care.

OR..
I have read about some of you hatteras boyz cutting 6" off the tip of the 1569..Thats about what I lost...I use this rod for 6-8 and bait for casting to sharks..would the lost tip render it useless or just make it able to handle 10 and bait. I am looking for the cheap way out if possible..I will pay for another tip section if need be,but if it is not ruined...Please advise your advice :)

BTW when I got the rod from a fellow member..it had already had 6" removed from the butt,so now it is 6" less from the tip AND 6" less from the butt.

Barty, I have never seen or heard of anybody cutting 6'' off the tip of a 1569. I have an uncut 13' 1569 for casting 10oz and bait and it does it very well. I would be suprised if anybody replies saying they cut 6'' off the tip and likes it. Don't know about swapping tips with another rod. Hope this helps...

6" is ALOT............ since its already done......cant hurt to put on a tiptop and try it out.......will be very hard to find another top section that will match and fit snug.......i

I agree with USEF THE MAG ... what can it hurt to glue one on and try it one trip ...

It really didn't make sense to me either (cutting the tip) A fellow member has offered to try to locate a tip (Thanks Newsjeff) so we'll see.
Never tried 10 before the accident..but i guess it would have done it no problem..It will throw a freakin jetty anchor now!

But I would think with that much gone from the tip it would become a stump heaver. May cast 10 & bait all day - If YOUR willing, but probably won't toss lighter payloads too well.

Never can be sure tho, Definitely worth fitting a tip on the end and giving it a try.

you guys had one of those days where you think Man- I should a just stayed in bed !, of course about that time a freaky asteroid comes crashing thru the roof!! Definitely some freaky bad Kharma.

nuff to make one want a

My roomates and I in college had a "black jack" table in the basement that ran all night as a way to make money. We lost a lot one night and went to the nearest casino to get our "money back".. Anyway it worked for my share but everybody else lost more.. On the way home my buddy who was driving looked down trying to find some change to get big gulp at 7-11. He started to put his foot on the break and slowing down to find change... We all asked him if he needed some help and of couse asked if he could "chew gum and drive" and many other jokes like that... It was 2:00 in the morning and all of a sudden a truck blew a right light and almost hit us but then hit a double UPS trailer and got run over by the cab and both trailers. Both driver and passanger were killed and their bodies threw on the road....
Boy did it get quite in our car. If my buddy did not get thirsty and slow down the car that much we would have been the blocker for the double trailer... Timing is weird in life... After that scene we forget about the Money loss....
We found out the two people that were killed were racing to catch last call in a bar at the corner they died at....

After some advice from people here and there...I decided to take the tip section, since it was broken just above the first guide down from the tip top,and cut it clean at that point. After a little digging through the forest of fishing rods that used to be the 3rd bathroom in the house, I found an old grouper rod that had a good tip top that fit and replaced it on the 1569. :D  I actually think I like the rod better now  It's down to 12' and it's damn sure a "Stump Heaver" now but hey, it's friggin SHARK ROD for Gods sake! Not like I need Bite Detection
Thanks for the advice guys!
