im glad he got fired. you let some things go too far then all of a sudden "im sorry". he has a history of saying thing like that and jewboy etc etc in the past. 5 years ago he said he would never do it again and he did. funny thing i see a lot of sponsors saw him as a bad risk as well and pulled their ads. i applaude them for sending a no tolerance message. imus has every right to free speech but hid dit it on a public forum in that he was wrong. my only question is what happenned to the producer who was with him? hmmmmmm? :popcorn:

I don't think Imus shoulda got fired. What happened to our freedom of speech? I agree what he said was wrong and very insensitive...but the crap I hear on the radio is worse. R.Kelly, Nellie, Jay Z, Emminem, Kid Rock, Motley Crue, Led Zepplin, the Beatles...all make derrogatory remarks about women, sex and race.
Butcha know what? I have the Freedom to turn it off or change the station. Was Imus wrong in what he said about the Rutgers basketball team? yup!!!! Was he trying to pull ratings or attention?..well the rating are down tha tube since he got fired...did he draw attention?...sure did.
I do not sand on a soap box and preach what is right and what is wrong. It is our right to agree or disagree, to turn up or turn off this media.

Was Imus trying to see how far he could stretch his Constitutional rights? Obviously...he got fired ( from both radio and TV)...why? 'cause an uproar of his opposition. To each his own on this debate..but I do believe that if it is all right for one...it is all right for all...there is no in-between ( or grey area).Its either Black or White. If there was an in-between we would be living in Utopia and a perfect world where words are just words and if there is something ya didn/t like...you just tuned them out.

I think there should have been some sort of disiplinary action but he should not have been fired.
As mentioned before I hear worse than that in the songs on the radio.
I am not a fan of his and think that he has a big mouth but dammit when we have to watch what we say and who we say it to I agree that things have to change.
Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson are a pain. Everytime something happens they have to get their two cents in and get a little publicity.

I believe the only reason he was fired was that advertisers were pulling out left and right and there was no way for the show to continue without appropriate sponsorage (I know I am a wordsmith). When folks like Cal Ripken start declining to appear on your show you can only assume that more people will do the same and that would also spell disaster for the show as that would be highly publicized.

I did not hear the comments as I do not like Imus. They had him on here on 980 a long time ago and I thought he sucked ARSE! Everyone has the right to free speech but there are certain obligations you have when you are granted the your own podium. There are certain rules and standards you need to adhere to.

I think what really riled everyone up is that picked on a group of well educated kids after they went farther than expected in the tournament. They accomplished something good and then here is this nut talking bad about about evidently calling them HO's or something and since they do not have access to the airwaves like he does they could not respond properly.

What he did was plain wrong and I have always thought he was a jerk anyway and he in know way represents Caucasian people.

However I do believe if the situation were reversed I doubt it would have been escalated to this level. I can't prove it but I see too many double standards these days.

This song was written in 1987..Thats 20 years ago...I think its more true now than ever before..It's from one of my all time favorite bands..Metallica..I was about 15 when this album came out..It's things like this that gave me my politcal views,,Heavy metal isn't ALL about death and devil stuff.there is a lot of politcal undertones to a lot of the songs out there. i think what imus did was wrong and he got what he deserve. however when hip hop thugs use words far worse than what imus used, i don't hear too much crying from al sharpton. african american leaders has to distance themselves against from those thugs and wannabe thugs. the state of african american are sad, when most of them do not know great african american, but they idolize those thugs.
