I hope you guys can get that fire under control RailRoader. It's all over the news up here. Over 20,000 acres. We all need rain. It's so dry in Georgia and Savannah, we're 5 inches below normal for the year and it's only April. I would gladly trade a fishing day for some rain. Thinking of y'all and the families burned out of their homes.

Here's the latest info available...So far:
19 homes destroyed (MANY more saved)
Nearing 30,000 acres burned.
2 Firefighters injured, one sprained wrist, one broken leg. Both are fine.
The outpouring of mutual aid assistance from surrounding counties and even STATES, has been amazing.
Our town has pulled together in an unbelievable way.
The fire is about 40% contained.
This morning, the wind has picked back up, gonna be 15-25 today.
As for me and mine, all is well, the fire is South of town, and I live a few miles North of town. The railyard, however, is staying smoked up pretty bad, we work a while, and sit a while, which makes for some long shifts.
I assisted yesterday with some evac operations, and today Mz. Railroader is gonna work the staging areas, ferrying food, water, etc.
There is one guy I want y'all to think about. He's a cop named Johnny, a hell of a fellow, and he's been unable to get in to his house since Monday, he has no idea if he has a home any more, or not....he hasn't slept, except cat-naps in his patrol car, since Monday.
There are about 300 other guys out there, just like him.
We're tired, but we're in this fight to win, and we will..........
