Shimano Speedmaster III querie.

I just received my Shimano Speedmaster III and it looks like a real nice reel. Everything looks great but when I let out some line and when I wind it in I get a clicking noise like I get on some trolling reels. Is this normal for one of these reels?Otherwise I like the reel 6:1 gears and 360 yards of 20lb line.

Yes, they are great reels, if it is clicking while the line is going out it has the clicker engaged. The gear dog clicks when you wind it in and is normal......

Thank you none of my other reels click like that on retrieve. I like anf got good price on ebay.

It's capable of casting a real long way also, just a little difficult to tame. You need an educated thumb on that reel, overall superb and out of production. A little big for casting but quite capable.

I use them for my live bait reels when tournament fishing. You can spend more money, but it hard to buy a better reel for that application......
