I always enjoy catching baitfish, usually finger mullet in Sept. time frame down at New River Inlet, NC and in the surf at this same area. They are usually heading south in big schools at this time of year, I want to understand their life cycle. Are they heading north in the spring?, where do they produce, are these finger mullet the same fish (just smaller) than the 10" to 12" mullet that you see jumping, which I have caught in the throw net? Do menhaden have the same cycles? Going down to NTB in a few weeks, and never find much baitfish this time of year except mudminnows back in the little streams off the inlet, perhaps I'm looking in the wrong places, thanks...the old farmer in Pa..

fear not... there are plenty of mud minnows and finger mullet in the creeks off the ICWW this year... the blues, king mac, and spanish have already made an appearance...
