On sunday I went fishing in the salt for the first time this spring and got to try out my new 10 foot MH lami surf king. It was paired with a 9 year old abu 6500c3 and 17# AN40... I was impressed. This combo really cast far with my "in the air" unitech cast. The sweet spot seemed to be 5oz and a big bunker chunk or 6 and small bait, but still cast 6 well, and it will lob 8 (not well). 4oz. just took more effort to load the rod. It is extremely light and bite detection was good. It fought a nice bass in the strong Hudson high tide current real nice.

Not a bad 1st trip in teh Hudson/NYC Harbor, especially considering the big sewage spill that happened on the Hudson in Yonkers on friday (4 million gallons of raw sewage). Obviously I did not keep the 36 incher in the picture....she was just lip hooked by the circle hook, but on the cement she got a cut by the tail.
