After talking about it for months and researching I finally took the plunge and picked up my first conv setup. This is probably the start of a new and expensive addiction. I wanted my first setup to be for grouper fishin off the skyway so I ended up getting a Daiwa Sealine 400H with 300yds of 50# mono. I got a awesome deal on a 8' Crowder E-series 20-50 on ebay sometime back for 60 bucks and figured I would put it to good use. Feels good and I can't wait to try it out. Anybody else use this setup? I'm hittin the skyway on Sat. The report will be in the Florida forum so check it out. :D

Went with crowder for the deal, lifetime warranty and the company is close to home. Also they feel really great! ;) Figured 8' will give me some leverage in getting them off the rocks. This setup is mainly for the gag groupers so I might be in for a workout if a jfish grabs on. lol :fishing:

Congratulations. Now the next thing you'll need is one of these:
(The bulk spool, not the diet ginger ale....)
After you've used up one of those (6.1 miles worth), you'll be a casting machine ;)
But the good news is I guess on Skyway you'll be casting straight down, so that shouldn't be a problem.
Yeah it will be pretty much straight down and letting the tide take it out to the reefs but, I'm moving to st.pete beach this fall. I see some surf gear, lots of blow ups, one of those bulk spools, and a trip into R/C territory in not so distant future. :D btw SF that map really makes a nice background for your pics. ;)

$60 sounds like a sweet deal.
