Niiiccce!....

Looks like you ran into the critter that the R/C was huntin' for at Jekyll the other day...:)

If you go in past your ankles, you're part of the food chain...

Well, at least there's some wing left. Wonder how Buffalo skate wings would taste.

Next time at AI, maybe I'll keep a skate... for bait.

That shot was from the Striper Tournament last December. Not many stripers, but the sharks were tearing it up.
Literally.

I cannot comment on where it came from. My co-worker / AI mentor (Steve Coleman) sent it to me on Friday. I will ask where he got it from when I see him.

Dont guys that target sharks use skates as bait? I though I read some where awhile back about a fisherman live lining a skate while fishing for sharks.

As for swimming in the waters off AI or OC or DE, Search for the pic of the toothy critter that was caught from 3Rs just down from where the swimmers are at IRI at night. If you cant find the pic, i have it on my pc at work. I was sure to send it to everyone before their vacations :).

Hey Cyg, that is a cool pic. Sharks have to eat as well. If we didn't wipe out all the big toothy critters we wouldn't be having a skate problem in the Bay, AI or HI. Sharks, (and skates) have their purpose.

And now, while I was fishing this weekend, I happened to catch a cow nose ray. The ray fought real hard, the wings must have hit the line as it was fighting and made it feel like head shakes....thought it was a drum! Now, when I reeled that critter in, I was disappointed to see it was a cow nose but the real stunner and major disappointment was not in the ray, but what someone had already done to the ray.

It seems this ray had already been caught once before but some fool of an idiot redneck motherF***r. Some idiot had carved a SPADE diagram into the back of this poor fish!! Now, my kids tease me and lovingly call me a redneck (among other things) but what fool, idiot arsed bastidge would do something as sick as that?!?!?  Makes me very angry...I wish I had caught the son of a - - - - - that did that. I wish DNR had been there....

No one enjoys catching rays, but to do that is just plain SICK....

Ok...I'm done....

All life is special beyond words, it is sacred and deserves to be treated as such. We have a job of stewardship and not one of domination of the earth.:( :( :(
