I didn't want to hijack Rob's thread so here goes.

I need a 10-11' Heaver. I don't really care about the thickness of the butt or difference in tip/butt length. It needs to be able to throw upwards of 12oz. I would prefer just a blank and I can build it the way I need it. Try to keep it at $250 or less.

So what are my options.

Barty, is there a rod you don't need? For 12 and bait I just use my $23.00 magnaflex from the 70's OR An old Lamniglas rod from the same era. If you go out and by a Carbon/graphite model Railroader will just bust it anyway's.

I think I know what he's going thru. I am too embarassed to tell you how much I know. Let's just say I've been there...a few times ....and I'm still there I suppose. The last time I went to Florida I had 9 2 pc salmon rods in up right racks behind the drivers seatof my van. The holders for my overhead rack were all full and there were at least two rods between each holder. The bigger half was on my bed so that I had to rent a storage building when I got there to sort thru the stuff and clean out all the tackle boxes and store the 2 kayaks out of harms way. When I left for Florida I was all set to sell the majority of it but I just couldn't find anything I really wanted to part with once I found a place to store it. LOL All in all I came back with everyone of them.

I think I got it covered..Surf Fish has a rod he compares to a telephone pole or something that copuld effectively beat a horse to death. He's become to feeble to bend it so I'm giving it a test next weekend. Rob is not allowed to touch it. I think he said it's called a "No Fish No Where" rated 6-bricks...I'm strappin the Penn 113H Mag on it and seein if it'll sling.

I hope its the aluminum spool (HL or HLW) those cast pretty good even without the magnets. The H models require a little to much load to Suit me. Next you'll be wanting a 6/0 with a Newell Black Marlin converxion kit. Better start searching E Bay. :D

That thing is huge.

Put a 113H on it, that will make a heavy duty combo for sure.

Didn't you throw 24n bait with it once Surf Fish?
