Hello all,
I've just joined this site after following a link posted on Charlestonfishing.com. I live in Goose Creek S.C., about 20 mins. north of downtown Charleston and about 30 mins. from the local beaches. I've lived here all my life and fished the nearby fresh water lakes since a little boy but, I only discovered the laid back relaxation of surf fishing about 17 yrs. ago. We have one public ocean pier (1K ft.) locally but I find much more satisfaction with my feet in the sand and fighting my fish to the beach without the nets, the crowds and the rules.
A quick check of some of the post here and it seems the members locations stretch far up and down the east coast. With that I'd like to extend an invitation to all; if your ever visiting Charleston from out of town and would like do some surf fishing in a different place, drop me an e-mail and if Im free I'd be glad to hook you up surf fishing in my favorite places. Nothing needed, I can pick you up or meet me at the beach and I'll provide the rest.
Tight Lines all and I'll be back later as I check out this really nice looking fishing site!:fishing:

Beerbuzz,

I will be in Charleston working at MUSC and I was seriously considering bringing a couple of surf rods to hit the sand. If I do I would appreciate the company of a someone knowledgeable of the area. I will let you know when I will be in town.

Welcome, welcome to the zoo. Sure would be cool to surf fish down there? Anywhere to drive on the beach down there?

Thats for the welcome all! abass just drop me a line when youre in town. No places to drive on the beach in SC that I know of. At least one of the state parks on the beach will let you take a golf cart down to the inlet if youre handicap. I've seen it abused quite a bit so I'd suspect they'll crack down on it soon. We have some nice areas free of crowds and houses and one nearby island accessible only by boat. Not a soul living on this island and a nice dead forest holding fish a high tide.

Thanks for the welcome junkman and Mangus. Nice pics junkman!
Morris Is. is probably the best surf fishing spot close to Charleston. By close I mean its practically in the harbor, also uninhabited and only accessible by boat meaning next to nobody there but you. Unfortunately we dont have big stripers like those in the surf down here. We do enjoy some big redfish in the fall. I'll have to figure out how to post some pics here.:fishing:

Welome beerbuz! I'm visiting Charleston (staying at SI) for a week in August. If you can find the time I'd like to do a little surf fishing with somebody like yourself that knows the area. I hear a lot of sharks there.
