Cut Pins

Since I like to go fishing without the hassle of catching bait just before I go, I'd like to know what other's views' are on cut pinfish. I've heard it's a very good bait. I would like them live, but it's too hot out here in Florida to be messing around not knowing if i'll catch some or not and then go fishing afterwards. I'd rather do one or the other in one day, but not both. I don't have a large bait container to preserve them overnight in, just the baitbucket/aerator.
