Penn Peer 309

Gave her a list of reels to watch for at the gun shows and flea markets they set up at. She found this little gem at a gun show with a $25 sticker on it. She gave $15 for it when the guy was packing up to leave on Sunday. It cleaned up pretty nice with just a little elbow grease...no pitting anywhere. All the insides look beautiful, everything functional...the spare pawl was still there too!

Did I mention I love my Mother-in-law...:D

...MIL and reel. Those things are really tough and will cast ok just the way they are. Just use the old penn reel grease in the bushing and on the level wind worm. It won't throw like a Squidder and never will, but it will flat out catch most anything in the surf, the sucker is big!

Come on down to Festivus and catch some BT's on it. BRING THE MEAD!

I wish I could Bill!! Been following that thread watching all your plans and such...just don't know how I could do it right now. Looks like I won't be back down till the week of Thanksgiving.

I don't think I'll mag it, or use it for much casting. Figure since I've got a couple Squidders, a 525, and a 545, plus my spinning outfit with the 650SS, I'll just use that 309 for yakin' out big baits. Although after cleaning it all up, it's almost too pretty to use...
