Hello fellow Surf Anglers I'm trying to setup a bait casting reel "ABU 7500 C3 CT" to be exact onto a blank without a reel seat. Coasters are dead because I know there are many other options out there better than that. Fuji for one but there isn't much information about it's reliability. I even entertained the notion of fabricating a reel seat out of copper but thats a long term project for the off season.

Need some hard core advice from seasoned anglers it will be greatly appreciated.

If there is another way to attach a 7500 to a rod without using a reel seat or clamps,Coasters or otherwise, I would love to know how. Copper and saltwater are not good together. Why not just go with a Fuji reel seat? have you looked at the LS7 Plate type? like the ones that come on the OM Cape point? I have 3 on different rods and love them.

I heard about the Fuji FS7SB and the Fuji LS7BB but I haven't heard any reviews from seasoned anglers. Your the first that has vouched for it's reliability. I may have to go this route after all is said and done.

Thanks for the advice.

You will get mixed reviews her..Some like it some don't..I will say that I cant quite get it to grip a penn 525 really tight...No problems with Abus though.

IMHO the only reel seat your gonna find to suit an Abu 7000 or 9000/10000 is the Fuji tube type..try to get one with a little padding (plastic/rubber) insert inside the hoods. Those reels are just not suited to any other method I know of....the foot base is a terrible design, they kill coasters in no time.

The new style Fuji plate reel seat works great on most reels I've used it on.....far better than the old style of about 20 years back. Make sure you have the lock down hood nearer the butt though, it seems to be harder to jam down tight if its at the tip end.....either taped on or whipped on IMHO they are first class, sadly they are not good for the Abu 7000....IMO its not the reel seat to blame though.

oh! I need to add....I love Abu reels and have many....and a few 7000 too;) :fishing:
