He justly deserves whatever punishment is handed out. I can't handle cruelty to children or animals.

It is sad though how so many gifted athelets are such worthless human beings. The youth need heros, I had Johnny Unitas and the great stars of that era.

Now when you read the sports page, there are more arrests than box scores.

I agree with you as far as PETA (People Embarrasing the Tidewater Area) is concerned. They need to BACK OFF until he is proven guilty. We are just stating opinions based on what we've heard. I knew one of his former cronnies was going to PLEA for testimony against Michael. 2nd the Feds win 95% of their cases. 3rd how are those boys going to get $362,000 to build all the pens and enclosures on the property unless someone with a lot of cash (see Michaels 27.5 Million in Bonuses over the last two years) financed it. Just an opinion. So...Mike will do his time and never play football again, but he can live a top quality life ($$$$$) after his prison term.:--| Barry however is home free. The Feds would have brought charges against him if they could. Too bad, I would have liked to see a man of honor and integrity (Aaron) keep the most hollowed record in sports.

I've read that indictment, it is very detailed and very damning. Now, other defendants are bailing on him.

There is a culture there I find morally repugnant. I find the reference to Johnny Cochran interesting. It dosen't matter how guilty you are as long as you can afford a good lawyer.

One of the many reasons I am glad I am old and won't be around long to observe what happens to our Great Rebublic.

Guilty or innocent the damage to Vick's image has been inflicted. He's through. The feds follow the money and they will convicted him on something, if the allegations are true about the electrocutions, drowning and beating of dogs the jury of his peers should do the same thing to him. Im just glad the NFL is stepping up in the behavior department. O'dell Thurman, Pac-Man jones, chris Henery and any one else, Roger Goodall is making a statement to players and fans that criminal behavior and substance abuse will no longer be tolerated by the league and it dosent matter if your a superstar or riding the bench. Good for the NFL.

Hang him high and...........oh wait, we don't do that anymore, so let's just throw his sorry ass UNDER the jail. (With a pissed off pit bull for good measure)

Another guy a basketball player was brought up on similiar charges awhile back and he walked 6months probation and a fine. Might be different with Vick sounds like he is a main playa in this operation, hopefully if found guilty they make HIM the example of whats in store for everyone else who wants to break the law. The sponsors don't want the publicity outfall from all this and are pulling away just like the NFL. alot of bad shyte in sports today!

I've been hearing several things, some of them conflicting.
A) New charge(s) would supercede current charges. I am not a lawyer but...I would guess it means the new charge(s) would carry more time then the charges already on the table.

B) He may not have been the main playa but he was probably the main financier. He funded the operation but only showed up occasionally at the actual fights.

C) There may be other sports figures involved in other organizations that Vick has info on and could rat on to lessen his time.

D) Wouldn't say its just sports. Sports is a microcosm of the larger society. It reflects whats going on in the bigger picture.

We'll know soon enough how it unfolds. New charges by the end of this month (August) and trial in November.

Thanks Fishbait! See...thats why were on this forum! You learn all kinds of things!

Just a clarification. Supercede means that the new charges would replace the current charges. These new charges may not be completely different from the current set of charges, but may just contain modifications. As far as how that may affect sentencing, we'll have to wait to see what the new charges are.

Vicks ship is sunk. All the co-defendants are taking plea deals to testify against him. ESPN's reporting he's been offered a plea as well and has until Friday to accept it or decline it. His attorney's didn't see it coming.

I agree...stick a fork in him he's done...if he cops a plea to any of the charges he's going to jail ,if he doesn't and chooses to go to trial he will be found guilty of at least some of the charges (this is the federal govt')and they are successful over 94% of the time and he goes to jail for a longer time either way nobody in NFL will want him..How stupid can someone be to piss away millions of dollars like he has...gonna be interesting

Since he gets his kicks seeing these proud and beautiful Pit Bulls fight each other, he should have no problem fighting a UFC fighter (we got em in Hilo Hawaii). Fight to the death and if he runs he should be killed. No ref, no rules same as the dogs. I say blood for blood. We love these Dogs and raise them as our own children. I have no love for this coward. Innocent, not guilty who cares. A coward is a coward and I dont care how you cut it. If you'r crying for this worthless bastige you should check your heart cause its in the wrong place.

I didn't miss it Teddy.

If you took a closer look at my post you would have read Vick looks like a main playa in the operation not that he was at the top even though Money talks and shyte walks! He got the $$$$ but lacks the brain power! I say dress him in a doggy suit send him to a 3rd world country and let them eat him! After all some on this board say what he has done is justifiable because they eat dogs in other countries!:D

So many times we've seen pro sports players get off easy or the sport seems to welcome them back especially since he's a person that can bring the money in to a stadium. If the NFL or Falcons let him play, the "Vick" fans will still come to the games and the money will still be made and they know that. But, the NFL has some responsibility to maintain their integrity by not letting him come back - if found guilty...

The Crew

I here if it goes to trial and the brought the new charges they would have some Atlanta Falcons testify against Vick at the grand jury. Which I don't think anyone wants to have happen (NFL, Falcons). So would all this info come out (who, what, where, when) if he cops a plea and dosen't go to trial?

goes back to have's and have not's. If you have the money for great legal representation (OJ - Martha) you'll get away with a slap on the wrist. If it were you or me insider trading we would have gotten 10 years in prison and what did she get 6 months?

Part of that goes to fairness a U.S. Senator or Congressmen (members of the Federal Gov't the same people who prosecuted Martha) can trade on insider information legally.

But you're right JP our values are in the wrong place. A certain religion really elevated the bar and made hitting someone equal to murdering that person.

But you also have to note that not only did they fight the dogs, but the cruelly killed them too. (electrocution, drowning). He needs to do some jail time.

Aloha JP. Its true, I'm not familliar with dog fighting and when people hurt them I tend to get emotional.
But I do believe that if a person can abuse an animal, they can also abuse people as well because they dont respect life, they are warped evil people.
Tight lines my friend.

Abuse in any form is bad. If he is guilty (everything points that way) he deserves what he gets.
With his money I doubt very much.
He supposedly killed the dogs that would not fight or ones that lost. He was wrong but that is like people who leave their animals in their vehicles in this heat. I called the cops on one lady last week. CLose to 100 degrees and the dog was locked in a closed car.
They wrote her up and she will probably get a warning. That to me was as bad as what Vick did. I have no use for either of them.
I have two that are 17 years old and really dread the day when they leave.

Articles - looks like his NFL career is over - no owner would want the backlash from signing him - and the League may give him a lifetime ban because of the gambling involved that's the penalty - another suggested if he ever played football again it won't even be CFL more like Arena football.

Didn't think he'd do it but the State Prosecutor is gonna bring charges on two counts. The animal cruelty charge carries five years per dog (8) so he's looking at 40 years.

innocent until proven guilty?Uh hello...he admitted to what he did...So now even if you admit your guilt, you should still have someone try to prove your innocence? He's done in the NFL....

i find it odd that the lady who killed and buried her babies in the yard gets off lighter
and will only do a few months for killing human beings. nor does killing babies seem to outrage people. priorities are all screwed up i think i would be more upset over a human then a canine.

How about something pretty hypocritical...Scott Peterson was convicted of double murder, wife and "unborn" baby. How many abortions are performed each year on "unborn" babies? There's a heartbeat in a week or two.

I watched the new last night, its Maryland law related to abortion (????)...prosecutor unable to prove that she killed her babies, since they're unborn, technical it's abortion at home. Abortion is very legal in md.

yes the lady got off but who haws abortions and hides the bodies under the kitchen sink and yard. you hide things when you are ashamed of something you did. shes guilty as hell and you know it since ya wanna be technical. the facts are he was a dog fighter/killer not a woman abuser.....exactly my point there kajun it was a dog not a human and he gets more time then if he actually hit a person. im not saying he isnt wrong for dogfighting but the punishment doesnt fit the crime. its a celebrity takedown . if you all think his conviction will stop dogfighting it didnt. they are gonna keep doing it just like drugs, cockfighting, and underground human fights. until they go after the really powerful folks at the top this is like ollie north iran contra proceedings to me.... a sham.

maybe he can plead stupidity..It's almost like he WANTS to go to jail..doing whatever he wants, thinking he's above the law..well my dad always told me if you were gonna do something,do it big..Well Vick's screwing up..BIG!!!
