A friend wants to sell me two 525mags along with 11'6" heavers. I want the reels, but I don't have any knowledge of those rods, and really don't see using them over my custom rods. But it never hurts to have a couple extra rods around. Does anybody care to share any information on these rods?

of that one, the "Absolute" series of rods that were 11-6", and rated to throw up to 9 ozs. They were made by Silstar and for a factory shelf rod were quite good. Yes, they are heavier than a custom but they weren't that costly either.

I'm guessing that probably the Shoreline series had a little better quality of guides on them than the previously made Absolute series did. I got the 11-6" Absolute when it first came out and bought it in Greensboro, NC at a hardware store for $161.

Joe Wheatly, aka "Mullet" on FishMilitia and some of these fishing boards said that that rod would comfortabally throw 10 ozs and bait.

If you are ever thinking of being in a place or situation of wanting to use a heaver and not worrying so much if you do do some damage to it...etc. (fallen down or amist the rocks on a jetty) then go ahead and get yourself these rods.

A reasonable price that I have seen of the 11-6" heavers was from $75-100. I wouldn't pay over that either.

The shoreline guides is wrapped in blue, don't remember what the trimming was and the Absolute series is wrapped in burgandy with gold trimming.

;) ;)

mention that if it matters or not I still have mine and do not intend to ever sell it and as far as Joe Wheatly knowing heavers, he knows his stuff!

They are black blanks, blue wrapping with gold trim. I bought both of them with the 525s to match. They are a little heavy and won't replace my customs, but will make good rod for a friend to learn on, shark rod, or anything really.I'll put it out there and see how it goes. I can tell it will handle 8 -10 all day long. he bought them at Frank-n-Fran's a couple years ago. Thanks for the feedback Reeltturner. If anybody wants one let me know I doubt I'll need two, plus that will offset some of my new Wheeler being built:) .

anytime.

Two rods like you have....I'll keep that in mind. I use mine for a pier anchor rod. If I ever need another one to replace mine, hopefully you'll still have them.;) ;)

The Shoreline is a lighter version of the Pineapple.

They are good rods with good components.

A place called Cat Fish Supply was selling them new on Ebay a couple of months ago for about $ 35 each, just go give you a reference point.

Thanks for the info Fish Hunter, after getting them I remember seeing them at Tradewinds, Frank-N-Frans, and a few other places. It will make a good plank rod, and I'm not disapointed in them at all.
