I have a couple of Abus myself but I am loking to try something. If someone could tell me what actually holds the bars/pins to the inner sideplates? Are they welded or what? I have looked to see how they but can figure out what really keeps them in place. If some one could shed some light on that it would be great

The crossbars that hold the frame together are swaged in place. Abu frames are chrome plated brass. If you look at where the ends of the crossbars where they protrude through the frame, you'll see the star shaped swaging marks. What are you going to do? Trying to convert a righty to a lefty? ;) :D

Atlanta- I am thinking of trying something. Swaged? What does that actually mean?

That means that the holes in the sideplates are drilled slightly smaller than the ends of the crossbars, and slightly tapered, and when driven in, they are slightly hammered from the outside to make it tight. It's a mechanical fastening method; they are not welded, glued or epoxied.
If you're trying to convert a righty CT frame to lefty, I'd strongly recommend against it. The front and rear bar, plus the two that are on the reel foot are swaged together at the same time to ensure proper alignment. While appearing simple, it would require some fairly sophisticated equipment. I'd go with a Jerry Foran's (google "hookless") conversion bar. :)

Thanks for the link but looking at the prices I could just go buy an Avet for that price. I was loking to do some sort of frankinstien conversion, I have CT bars in all my 6501s now. I am just getting fed up that I can't fish with a right handed reel and all the good ones are right handeed. I have been going off a lot on this topic lately

Yeah. Just looking at the frame of an Abu, it looks very simple, and therein lies the engineering marvel that is Abu. While the parts are not much more than stamped chromed brass sheets and rods, the way it is made is what's intriguing. Sadly, Abu just does not see the "profit margin" in making variations of many of their reels, including left handed CT's and bringing back the 7000/7500 CT's. Given that they've shifted a lot of their production to the Far East, the costs to engineer and build those reel shouldn't be that high. I've been racking my brain on how to duplicate a 7000-sized CT frame and just have not been able to. I wish I could...
I think you'd be well off with a lefty Avet. While they are somewhat more expensive (especially if you had to mag it), they are also quite a class higher than an Abu, both in durability and in line capacity.

You can buy a left handed c3 frame but thats what us lefties are stuck with the 6501 C3 and the 7001i amd 7001 HSN. We can't get the blue yonder, Sports mag, Mag elite, Ct's. we can't get any of the good ones. I was looking to modify something
