i bought the finnor offshore 7500 a couple weeks ago and paired it with an ugly stick custom king rod, ive been trying to test its guts on a king but ive hooked kings on all the rods but this once for 2 weeks so we decided to test it on sharkys today
went to the jetties and dropped anchor with some king fillets on a 9/0 circle and 100lb test mono leader(the sharks seem to bite the mono better than the wire)
we were there for a little while when we the reel went off taking 300 yards of line before we could yank the anchor and bring in the big guns, we started to chased and i fought it for about 20 more mintues and that reel did not miss a beat, id palmed it a little bit and the drag kept screaming, eventually got it to the boat and released a nice 6ft black tip, ended the day with only a 100 plus pound southern on the finnor and again it worked great without skipping a beat, i really am impressed with the drag on this thing and cant wait for my other spool to come in so i can load up with braid put it for a test on my jigging rod in deep water
