Is there a rule of thumb when matching leader to line? Specifically when it comes to #test? Mono & fluro and mono & wire and what about the swivel in the middle? What #test should it be?
For example
15lb mono and 50lb fluro leader and 50lb swivel?
or
25lb mono and 50lb wire and 50lb swivel?
Gracias

The leader is more dependant on the amount of weight you are throwing. The rule is 10lb per oz. So if you are throwin 5 oz 50lb leader would be good. I fish a little different waters then you but heres my set up: 17 lb main line, 50 lb leader attached to that with an improved Albright knot. 2 rod lengths and 5 wraps around the spool worth of 50 lb leader. 1 bead, fishfinder slider. leader tied to 150 swivel. About 3 inches of 80lb leader to 10/0 circle hook

what justin is talking is the shock leader.
i believe Biged is not talking about shock leader since he talked about swivel as well. there's really no rule of thumb. you can have a 15# main line with a 20# leader 1-3' in length.
