hey fishbait, which sinker do you use? I mainly used bank sinkers but my guess is they have the tendency to roll...
I've bought some flat (coin) sinkers and was wondering if they would be better...

Depends on the spot. I use a cannonball in the places where I want it to move a bit. But almost everyone tells me they would rather have their bait sit still. I like to stick and move, so I use a cannonball.
interesting... any tog masters out there would like to chime in? :)

OK cool! I know nothing about togging but I figured I'd just chuck some bait out and see what happens... lol...

LOL - this is concise/precise version of what we're gonna do:
- 1/0 - 3/0 gami oct hooks
- 2oz to 3oz led
- hi/lo and just lo hand-tied rig
- sand fleas for bait
- drop straight down with 20lb braid (may go higher like 50lb, if I get time to re spool b4 leaving)
- review some more tog advice from this forum and try to remember the tips from fingers, fishbait, chump and seasalt :)

any particular reason to go with braid instead of mono? Also, can you buy sandfleas somewhere or do you have to go 'a' diggin in da sand?
Also, is there anything else biting near there or is there really no point in bringin' the heaver? I was thinking of chucking cutbait or something out into the middle...

I'm also thinking of heading out to OC to try togging for the first time in many years. Any comments on the usefulness/suitability of a Shimano Tekota with 65lb PP on a 6' Tsunami MH rod? Also, anyone want to meet up? I'm leaving Alexandria around 4am, should be out by 7.30 or so.
