I admit I have not done much homework on this. Mainly when I try and research something that is for sale (clothing etc) it is hard to weed through the ads and what not and it can take forever.

I am mainly looking for a pair of gloves that are very warm, water proof, and allow for over lapping. What I mean is many gloves meet the sleeve of the jacket and there is a gap. I would like a glove the extends up the forearm a bit so that when a jacket/sweatshirt is put on there is a layering effect by the glove. Preferably the gloves would not be too bulky. I would mainly use these fishing and hiking etc but I also walk my dog 2-3 times a day for about 30-40 minutes a pop and in his condition I need good use of my hands / fingers to manipulate things . I now have some ski gloves which are not too bad but I need to take them off to 'pick up da poop' among other things.

I thought of buying something slim and waterproof along with slim and fleece and wear the fleece under the waterproof.

On another note I am also out looking for outdoor clothing / gear. Is there a site that explains and compares all the types of materials (gore-tex, etc)? Some of these items are quite expensive but i may not mind if I know it is good and will last.

thanks

Anyone make neoprenes thin enough for fishing use (tying knots without taking them off). I am interested in something waterproof but offers a little more mobility.

I have the Seal Skins neoprene. They are comfortable to wear and you can fish in them, but no way to tie knots. I am going to use my fingerless fleece fly fishing gloves this year. The neoprenes are good for paddleing to and from a spot, but not the most nimble for small tasks.

Chota® Neo/Fleece Cold Water Gloves $29.99
They're fairly thick so they will cramp up your hands a little, but they are very warm.

I wear a pair of the mechanics wear gloves from Lowes.

They are leather and padded. I can fish them cut bait bait with them and cast rteal good with them. I fished them all winter long last year as they have good dexterity.

WHen they thumbs wear out by spring, they go to my dive gear collection......

Not a bad glove for twenty-five bones.

Kenai brand "glommitts"; with neoprene gripping surfaces, windfleece back. They're fingerless gloves with a mitten fingertip section that stows velcroed to the back of the hand, also slit thumb with velcro tab. Wrist may be a tad short but I like them enough to have replaced a pair. Used them plenty for ice fishing and everyday stuff. Found mine at Sportsman's Warehouse but should be available elsewhere.

I have seen these but paid them no mind. Are they warm though? Are they water prrof or water resistant? (it does not say in the description)

The Glacier Kenai neoprene look VERY interesting. Do they really keep your hands warn when out in the wind of the surf at night?

Check the gloves out in this post. This is what I use and they are great. They're neoprene, so getting them wet when you land fish doesn't matter.

I had them on today in Hatteras and they worked great.

They look great BUT I don't have that kind of disposable cash for a jacket. Is there anything close to Oakley performance without the name brand associated with it? Thanks
