I was invited to fish the 34th Coastal Carolina Inivitational on friday November 9th out of Murrells Inlet. We were greated with find weather and flats seas. With bottom fish in mind we headed offshore and stopped about 23 miles out to get bait. But bait wasnt the only thing that was there, that first stop yeild 39 keeper king macks and serval keeper seabass through out the day. The bait hole was on fire with kings and we ended up staying there the entire day with non stop action for our four teams, CCU team A, CCU team B, USC, and Clemson. I was fishing on CCU team A and was rewarded with the first king mack decked which I caught on a Shimano Butterfly Jig. 3 of my team members(including me) limited out on kings with 11 being caught by our team of 4 anglers and also 2 nice seabass and a 10 lb little tunny being decked by CCU team A. USC came in a close second with a 30lb amberjack leading the way for them, Clemson(with only 2 anglers) came in 3rd with 6 kings and CCU team B came in 4th with a boat load of kings and a 12lb little tunny. We ended the day with a nice rewards ceromony at the HOT FISH CLUB in Murrells Inlet where the great chefs cleaned and cooked our catch serval different and delicous ways. It was a great day for all with lots of fish being decked and smiles had. Congrats to CCU team A anglers, Captain Bryan Cox(me), Dr. Erin Burge(Coach) and CCU grad students Molly, Craig, and Justin.
