I have a Daiwa Saltiga 12' SA-S 1202MHFS . Be aware this rod is MISLABLED on Daiwas website (and that of others) as a 11' rod!

It is quite light. The quality of components and construction is outstanding. I like the 25" butt length. I know a thing or two about graphite and the Saltiga has a graphite blank of the quality I have not seen in a rod of this price range. Totally, I am blown away by the total quality of this rod at the modest price. With it's lifetime warranty, it's the best bang for the buck out there.

You must not take the findings of one model/length and apply it to others. This is true of any rod series. The 12' SA-S 1202MHFS is a big powerful rod. It stands toe to toe with my Breakaway LDX. The tip is fairly stiff and there is a lot of power that gradually extends down into a fairly stiff butt. It needs a full 3 ounces to load it well and it does best with a pendulum type of cast. It will cast a mile and has the power to handle just about anything short of a big shark. It's an excellent long distance plugging rod for the experienced caster and a great light bait rod. The 12' SA-S 1202HFS must be really stout. I would be most interested to hear from people that have the other models/lengths. - HPD

so the 12' 1202mhfs is really a 11' rod?

NO.

daiwa labeled it wrong. instead of a 12ft'er they labeled it as an 11ft'er.

The 1202mhfs is a 12' rod. On the website it is by error listed like this.
SA-S 1202MHFS MH F 11' 2 15 - 30 3 - 6 5

BTW - I emailed Daiwa about this listing mistake two months ago. They acknowledged the mistake but they have not fixed it on their website yet. Poor corporate communication!! - HPD

JT, fishingphil sounded pretty determined to pick one up last time I saw him, a couple of weeks ago. How about gettn' ahold of him, he may have one already....Who knows. You know you could talk him into bringing it down and let ya throw it.

oo gotcha gotcha.

i mean.. for 199. i might get a 3-6 to casting distance instead of a LDX.. just cause of the lifetime warranty xD .. and i hear from you guys.. its lightweight. very light.

maybe use it for flinging jigs or poppers. and double as a light bait rod.

I'm looking for a 10' surf/jetty/pier rod to match with a 525mag to handle 4-6oz and have narrowed down to either:
a) $220 10' Lamiglas Surf & Jetty (XS10MHC), vs.
b) $180 10' Daiwa Saltiga Surf (SA-S 1002MHFB).

Any recommendations on either, or further input on the Daiwa? I've read lots of good things about the Lami, but the Daiwa has Alconite guides vs. the Al Oxide on the Lami.

Thanks!
