Picked up a Saltist 20 today so decided to see how it would do. The sorta part comes because the 2nd to be measured cast with the slosh turned into this

Throwing into a 10-15mph headwind didn't help. The only measured cast with the Slosh was 275'.
Three cast with the Saltist went 312',323' and 341' with a straight 8oz weight on my Fusion.

As to the Saltist, it is one perty reel with all the standard great things about Daiwa's, awesome smooth drag, loud @ss clicker(louder than the slosh) but best of all with the gear box out of the way it is very comfortable. Only down side is it only holds 250 yrds of 17.But I dont think that will be an issue with a drum or striper from the beach.

Gonna clean the bearings and oil em and try it again tomorrow and see how it does.

Actually a correction, 250 yards was below the lip.All the way to the lip was 265 yards.

Yeah I wasn't real impressed with my distance either, spool was over filled to see how much line I could get on it. Cleaned the bearings and stripped about 10 yards of line and will try it again tomorrow. Hope I dont have a head wind again.

Maybe one day I'll grow up to be a great caster like you Jeff...

Hey Cdog, where in Lanexa do you cast? I use to fish the Chick a lot up that way when I lived in the Burg.

Cdog, casted my 30H today in the lake by my house very smooth. Felt really good in my hands, and the gear box is a definite plus. The frame material is what sold me, seems like it will hold up real well. Can't wait to fight a drum on it, hopefully find out in a couple days!!:D

Jeff, I think the spool on the 30TH sits a little higher?

Well if it weren't for the big tree I could almost fish from my house. I'm just always heading to salt water for some reason.

No on the sideplate thing, the sideplates are definitly smaller.
