Someone correct me if I am wrong or point me in the right direction, but if a boat is in trouble such as the vessel we assisted on Saterday which had 2 dead batteries and a leaking fuel line isnt the law that you must render as much assistance within your means? For example if a boat of redskins fans were out cathing fish and came across a group of lousey Cowgirl fans not catching anything and broke there boat. As a waterman it is your obligation to render as much assistance within your means even if they are cowboys fans.
Im being serious though because a 40 ft Sport fisher pulled along side the boat we helped before us and asked them if they had water and told them sorry they were still fishing and were out of Crisfield and since the DOW boat was from Solomons they couldnt help. They didnt even call the CG for them. Clyde, can you clear up what exactly is your responsibilty when rendering assistance. Thanks bud, and to boot the guys on the boat were cowboys fans but we did give them a 6.9 mile tow for free, hopefully if something like that ever happened to us we would want someone to help us. Thanks Clyde or whoever finds out.
