On the way to work this morning I saw where someone had just hit a deer. There were two guys cutting away taking meat from the deer.
I have not hunted in awhile but is this meat still good after getting hit by a car?

if the stomach contents or intestines are opened you definately dont want to mess with it:--| Also dont forget in some states it's illegal to pick it up or you must have a license and report it so it can be tagged all the states have diffrent laws.

As far as I'm concerned, it's always deer season with your bumper!

I hit a large buck many years ago. I hit it broadside and did very little damage to the deer but major damage to my mazda truck. I took it home and it was bruised very little. I had it processed into burger and cubed steak. It was fine.

If the deer gets slammed head on at high speeds, the meat will not be any good. It will be bruised and bloody.

If it gets hit in the front end only the back end of the deer should be good. If I had to eat one that had been hit by a car I would be selective of what parts I kept and throw away all the badly bruised parts.

If you want a deer to eat you an just ask a hunter in most cases. They will kill you one. They are plentiful just about everywhere.

yes...i couldnt tell you how many times weve been hangin out down at the marina and a soccer mom comes in with a busted bumper that just hit a deer. wed ride up there and get it. generally good. Busted guts doesnt taint the meat...just stinks cleanin it....although try not to bust the bladder. one year there were over 25 hit in a three mile stretch one winter.
