The reason you can't stay logged in is because now that NS4D is a site mod, he's getting even with you.:p

Sounds like you got a sick computer. Meaning, you got infected by a virus somehow (downloading videos, programs and etc...)

You have couple options, you can try to run some type of anit virus program that will clean up your system. Or, just wipe the computer clean and re-install the operating system. I recommend the second option.

anyone else have any tips?

Remember, if you choose to wipe out your system, back up whatever you want to keep on a CD before you do it.

if you are worried about spyware/viruses, trojans.

Check out

Stinger.exe Its a spybot/trojan removal tool..

Sypwareblaster works as a preventitive measure and blocks known bad sites (excellent for Active X)

Spybot Search and Destroy has an plocker similar to Spywareblaster and a search tool.

I have all three up and running and I feel safe and secure surfing all the sites that are full of spam and trojans. My dads pc was running real slow, after a few scans, and updates, it was back to normal.. There should be a setting to save passwords, and cookies somewhere.

Im no expert, but it seems to work for me..

as far as flashplayer, check out their FAQ most have already found the clitches and prob requrie a simple checking or unchecking of a box or setting.

What everyone else has said. You are infected with something. I bet it would interrupt anything you download as I have seen this on my bro-in-laws computer.

I recommend the "Aliens" approach ... remember that movie where the grunt says "We gott anuke the site from orbit ... it is the only way to be sure" Well in that vain I would wipe and reinstall your OS. Once you do so I would install Firefox as your browser and leave IE alone. There are a lot less infiltrations that can happen especially as Firefox is not tied into your OS like IE is.

If you are computer savvy I would recommend removing the virus altogether (e.g. Windows) and install a Linux distribution. If you are not tech savvy then the next time you buy a computer buy a mac ... it is basically Linux with a nice GUI.

Before you do that why don't you investigate the restore point option? Take a restore point from before your problem started. Restore your computer. then disable your restore option and "clean" your system using a well knnown product.

After doing that your system should isolate the infected files. Delete them and reset your system restore.

It worked for me...........

What Rad said. Go to start, settings, control panel, system, then system restore. Go back to last restore point and accept. After that, run anti virus, and spy sweeper. If system runs correctly, do three things. Complete defrag. Then go to C:drive right click, go to properties, then to tools, error checking. Accept to do later, then shutdown to cold, no restart, complete shutdown. Then reboot system.

This should take care of the issues.

After that takes place and all is well, go back and set a new restore point.

All good advice here, some a bit more time and labor intensive than others. FyremanJef mentioned 3 good things to download. SPYBOT is free, another one is ADAWARE by Lavasoft (free also). When you run one and then the other, you'll probably clean up lots of stuff.

Run them in "Safe Mode" first, then after you've run each of them, reboot and run them again. To get to SAFE MODE, when you boot up, while it is booting, hit the F8 button. Eventually you will get a page which will offer you an option whether to continue with normal OS boot up or boot up in Safe Mode. Choose Safe Mode and hit enter. Then run those apps. Give me a call if you have questions. I have to clean my kids' pc all the time. Once every week or two...

You should also have either ZoneAlarm or Norton Internet Security loaded. These you will have to pay for....

forgot about Adware by lavasoft. All are free available on Download.com

Sounds like something got changed in your web settings to me. I would try resetting them to the defaults.

Goto tools ->internet options -> Programs Tab, and click the "Reset Web Settings Button"

Also click the restore defaults button on the Advanced tab.

That will probably work.

And definatley get some sort of anti spyware program. I would forget about the zonealarm and internet security if you have a good up to date virus detection software. Trend Micro House Call(free and internet based) is good for everyonce in a while scans but you need something with realtime protection.

For virus scan - AVG
For Spyware - Spybot Search and Destroy

Both are free, can be downloaded from the internet, and both are very reliable.

Also agree with JeremyUCF. Hit the tools bar and reset to "default" settings.

I would also go to restore and pick a safe point before the problem started .... or do the Housecall by trend micro ... PC Pitstop is also another good site to check your PC ... it runs all kinds of test and compares yours to other in the same class ...... and recomends fixes ... FREE

for anti virus there is only one PC-CILLIN by trend micro ... #1 anti virus software for like the umpteenth time in a row ...
