I bought a Dell 700M 2 years ago that has speakers going out now.

Since then I purchased a XPS140 laptop and the speakers went out before the 700M, luckly I found a DL on the DELL website that corrected the XPS140 but not the 700M which still doesn't work after many Dell website downloads.

My little 700M is still on the fritz.

Anyone have any suggestions for the little 700M besides to watch it sail off the bow on my next trip out?:fishing:

Haven't had mine go out yet, but I have a suggestion.

I wasn't thrilled with the speakers on my Dell laptop and got some external speakers made for laptops.

In your case, the amp might be bad. With these speakers, the signal and power are fed by the USB and they sound pretty good. Partly because the sound is fed digitally through the USB.

Is there any sound at all, or are they completely silent? I've never been thrilled with Dell laptops, but I have seen the speakers Bubba is talking about. They are very nice.

I bought a Dell Inspiron 5100 about the same time and have gone to different speakers because of no volume and the sound. Otherwise
I really like the computer.

Is your sound card on the fritz or is it the speakers? If you plug in external speakers, do they work well?

I just can't get sound to come out of the speakers in the laptop. I travel quite a bit in my job and packing extra speakers along with everything I'm forced to carry isn't a realistic option. Wish I could because I do have some very nice external speakers.

I'm inclined to think it isn't the sound card since I do get sound when I plug in the speakers or use headphones.

I like Dell laptops but expect more than two years of use out of them before they begin to act up. Grrrrrrr!
