Alright, here is the dilemma. I found a tick on the dog last night. Problem is that it was huge, not being filled with blood, but it was filled with puss. The tick was white, like a dog tick about to fall off, but why no blood? The dog has been very sick for a few days now, I removed the tick last night, and he apparently feels a lot better today, because he has been barking and growling at himself in the mirror for an hour. Any info on this would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like he needs to go to the vet. I'm sure you probably disposed of the tick, but it might have been a good idea to keep it for the vet.

I had a Chow once that was fond of sleeping on the cool linoleum floor in the kitchen, and one day I walked in there and asked him if he wanted to go outside. He tried to stand, but his legs were like jelly. He'd try, then fall right over. I rushed this poor guy to the vet thinking he had a stroke he was so weak. They proceeded to shave this dog (imagine all the hair shaved off a Chow) and found ONE TICK! One stupid tick! The vet said just like Mama did, that ticks secreet their own bacteria in the animal as well as suck out blood. Once that one tick was off, ol Jake was as good as new in about 20 minutes, and I was $75.00 lighter in the wallet.

I was deer hunting in Pa one year and got very sick in the field. I made it back to Maryland and while showering I found two dead ticks still attached to my belly.

I went to the hospital where they promptly removed my gall bladder and a portion of my intestine. Doctor said it was the strangest thing he'd ever seen as it appeared that the body parts removed appeared gangrenous:eek:

It could be related to the tick. It could be mange. It could be alot of things. I guessed about it with the greatest dog I ever owned. She was fully trained and had a fantastic personality. My guess was wrong and the dog passed earlier than she should have. A trip to the vet is best.

Do not take any chances I would take the dog for a check up. Those things can really do some damage.

And start using some sort of Flea & Tick control.

removed the tick last night, he is running around and playing like a champ, he is eating too. You can tell he feels a lot better, must have been the tick. I washed the spot where the tick was throughly with alcohol, much to the dogs dismay. He is eating again and feeling a lot better.

Thanks to everyone for helping me with this matter.
