It's a nice fish, but I hate to see a big biter killed for the sake of a record. I guess I'd be a little hesitant to release it if I thought it was a record though. Tough call to make.

Either way, congrats to the kid. Fish if a lifetime right there.

There were quite a few taken for meat from the Point and the Hook last year. The bulls were thick in the mid-late summer through the fall last year. Not sure if they're tasty or not, but every other shark I've had was. I'm sure if you got them cleaned out pretty quickly and kept the nasty stuff from building up in the meat they'd be pretty tasty.

Nope, never surfed...and that picture is the prime reason why!:D

Think I ate one once, not very good. There isn't a shortage of bull sharks around so I'm not too worried about a few being taken for trophy mounts. Not what I would target thought.

Nice catch and it not like he was targeting the Shark it just happen to be there when he was there so let's give him all the credit he deserves

to all:

bulls are GREAT FUN to catch (especially on LIGHT, read: bass-size tackle) & the MOST dangerous of all the sharks BUT they are MISERABLE as table fare.
(imVho, dogfish & "bonnet heads" under 10 pounds are the best eating AND the MOST FUN for the buck on a fly rod, provided that you "dress & ice them down" as soon as you get them landed. fwiw,i've cooked literally HUNDREDS of pounds of shark steaks over the last 4 decades= including feeding an entire TX county Lion's Club at a "noon meeting".)

furthermore, there's NO shortage of bulls out there. so taking one as a a trophy is NOT a bad thing, imVho.

GOOD LUCK out on the water,ts
