Now I am not talking about the skunk that occurs when you ain't catching a thing. I am talking about those bait soaking days when you are using blood worms and such that tend to stain and smell up your hands.

I can only take credit for sharing my solution but the credit goes to my wife. This treatment may sound 'metro' but it works GREAT.

Wash your hands normally. Then cut a fresh lemon in half and rub the juice and pulp all over your hands and fingers. You can dry this off. Next get some coarse salt (about 1-2 tablespoons) based on your hand size (no jokes please :D) mix the salt in your hand with olive oil. Make a mush out of the salt and oil and then rub this all over your hands and fingers. Do this for a couple of minutes. Wash it all off and I guarantee your hands will feel better than they ever had before.

Fella's, trust me, your ladies will like the fact that you did this BEFORE climbing into bed for the evening ;);) along with taking a shower of course.

Anybody else have any suggestions / methods?

I don't know about you but if I don't smell fishy when I get home from fishing, Mama thinks that I've been up to something.

When you see me on the beach, you can be sure that I have a dead mullet on hand(in case of the other skunk) C2

Precisely why I posted this. You do this AT HOME after everyone can tell you have been fishing! Brownie points for going fishing when you say you are going fishing and points for cleaning up for your lady.

I know this works for getting the smell of Ginger off but I did not know to applied to other smells. I thought it was some odd reaction between the stainless steel and the oils of the garlic. I do this all the time, well whenever I cook with garlic which is every time I cook. This is no joke fella's putting your hands under cold water and rubbing with a stainless steel blade erases the garlic smell.

I have the "Wonder Bar" steel soap bar but it does not work that well for me. It removes some of the stink but not all. I wonder if coffee grinds would work...

Try the lemon, olive oil and salt trick. I bet it will work.

don't forget about the rubbing down with rubbing alcohol (the idea is that the offensive oils evap out before 'washing & just spreading em around') before washing, or any other remedies (lemon juice, salt, olive oil) -- use the alcohol first - & let it evaporate off --it evaps. the oils out (works great for poison ivy, etc , too- do it twice, to be sure) then complete your washing regimen with the scent eliminators, ie lemons,salt,OO.. it'll help, courtesy of 'Ranger Rick the Racoon' from National Geographic (& also from my mother-in-law, a licensed GP, retired MD, and girl scout leader-stuff came in handy here!)

I'll keep that it mind. My daughter got a Ranger Rick subscription for Christmas! This will be fun!

Vinegar is a simpler method. Which cuts the smell of just about anything.

They have this new deodorant now. It's called 'Smear'. It doesn't kill the odor; it just spreads it around so you don't know where it's coming from.:D

Your salt and olive oil mixture works great!

Last year I bought my wife a jar of dead sea salt mixed with olive oil ($30 for 6 oz!!!) When I wash my hands with it, not only does it clean them, it takes off all the dead and roughened skin, too. Makes your hands really soft and smooth and clean.

Now I know how to save the $30 and make it myself!! LOL ;)

Well, tried it on a white pizza before...with anchovies! Could still taste and smell the anchovies!:D

Not really. It works for odors but the salt/oil act as an exfoliant and will deep clean your pore and remove dead skin. Bloodwork blood was a way getting into the oddest places, cuticles, scrapes, etc and is a b1tch ti get out.
