What is the wire?

It's an HBO series about the war on drugs in Baltimore it is on it's 5th and finally season

Being a Baltimore resident I must say the Wire is pretty much what you see in Baltimore. It's said to see people go through s much struggle....

HBO series in the last 6 years (thats including the Sopranos & Rome in that time period) season 1, 2, & 3 were the best for the sopranos, after that the series was good but not great. thats when the wire came out in 2002. the 1st, 3rd & last yr season rival any of the sopranos first 3 yrs. the reason it doesnt get the much due recognition like the sopranos is because its an urban culture series so not to many whites can relate. while america is intrigued with the Mafia and white collar crime!!

I've lived in Baltimore for 10 years and I can say that while The Wire is accurate when it comes to some parts of the city (hint: stay the hell out of east and west), it's actually a pretty safe place to live. I've lived in midtown (Mt. Vernon) and now live on the north end of the city. Never had a problem the whole time.

Then again, a buddy of mine did get carjacked by a tranny hooker after coming home late one night. Maybe my luck is just better than others. :)

i agree and the wire is next. this is the last season saidly and when it's over i'm going to cancel HBO, it costs too much and has nothing left.

The Wire, The Corner, Homicide, Hairspray....all depict Baltimore as a rather unappealing place. The wire is really true life Baltimore with just some of the names changed. What a screwed up city.

SF, totally agree. I would bet that most
major cities (D.C., LA, CHI, etc, etc)
have sections where the same thing could
be said. I have lived all over the world
and the only place I had something
stolen was in Italy. (Car got broken into).

Omar was shootin crap too many times and finally came up with snake-eyes. from what i know about the streets people like omar who jack pushers would only have lasted for 1 year max . after he escaped that gunfire in the apt he should have walked away for about a month or 2, or for good period. what do Avon, Stringer Bell, Omar, Marlo, Mike & Vito Corleone have in common??? they all are criminals &
