Anyone try the "Gorilla" braid by Berkley?

This was discussed before. If you check out the major online retailers they don't sell it anymore. Wonder why? Cause nobody is buying it. Wonder why? Cause it's junk.
Just one question for you...how many times has mono broken off in the surf for you?

I have to try it for myself. Everyone has their own opinions. I didn't have a problem with mono breaking due to abrasion in the surf. I like braid because of it's feel and sensitivity and also casting ability, not to mention strength.

I have a couple spools of it. Works OK for me but it seems thicker than the other popular braids.

Ok Pat. I have to get other's opinions and experience - cause I don't want to waste a lot of money on stuff other can help me steer clear of.

Had nothing but problems with the Gorilla Braid. Right now I have my spinners and 525's spooled with 17 lb berkley and have done pretty good. Gonna change over to Suffix this season. I have the suffix on some lighter spinning set ups.

I use Gorilla braid on my shark reel. I use it for a backing and only see it when a fish takes out over 175 yards. Worked fine but have not casted it. or tested the lbs breaking point. It is rated at 50 or so but my mono is 40 and has not broken. Buy some and check it out.
What is everyones complaint on it?

That's a good use for it Vic. Or offshore bottom fishing. It's definitely not for casting from the surf.

Gorilla barided line would be good on an offshore trolling rod. It is tough.

Im trying Suffix Performance Baraid this year for the first time. It will be on a spinning reel @ 20lb test.

I tried out the sufix braid last year. Wasn't real thrilled with it as far as casting went, but then again I'm used to casting mono.
The Gorrilla Braid, like others have stated, works fine for non-casting purposes. I have some on shark and king reels. I really like the face that it stays round in shape, while other brands tend to flatten out near the end of the season.
IMHO, shell out the money and buy Spectra. Last braided line you'll ever buy.

gorrila braid was one of the first...its not round...works good on a deep drop...the problem with braid when it first came out, was that it was flat...they are getting better...I use Iron Silk on a lite casting reel...took some getting used to...if you are just jigging the Gorrila should be ok...I take it you found it on sale?...
