Throwing a Penn 525 with a loomis 12" rod / 8 oz. Suggestions needed on fishing lines. I was thinking of getting suffix Tri 17 lb. test. Any suggestions?

gvick, have 2 525's, a Saltist and and Abu BY all with a suffix tri 17# test. Have a couple more reels that I striped and cleaned this winter. Will have them filled with the same, No complaints, if you find better let me know.
I'm trying out braid on my spinners for the 1st time, going with Power Pro. Any and all adivice appreciated. Philly Jack
gvick...nothing wrong with 17 lb tri.
Philly Jack...I have 30 lb PP braid on my Stradic 5000FH. Had the reel for over 2 1/2 years and haven't had to chnge the line yet...just trimmed it back when needed. The only thing we need to be careful of is the drag settings. Tighten down the drag too much with a "biggun" and the shaft will bend on you. Other than that, no problem. I have never had a wind knot with it either. My new Emblem Pro 5500 will also have 30lb PP.

O.K., I'll go against the grain. I like Sufix tri, don't get me wrong, but since I don't throw as far as most petite women, I have better luck with Sufix Seige. 17 lb seige , at least to me, is just as durable as tri but has little to no memory, so I like it on spinners, and since putting it on my conventionals, I'm seeing more distance. So, maybe no one else see's more of my distance but every inch counts!:)

Last spring a friend of mine lost a drum when his line broke.
The next morning he was trying to tie a knot and the line kept breaking.
17# Seige.
I stick with the Tri.

Suffix Tri all the way. Pick up the bulk spools for the long run.

gvick, I have the same combo. I think 7 ounces is the sweet spot on the rod. I like Tri.
