i just got a new sealine x30sha and as soon as i got it i did a stupid thing and decided to look at the bearings:redface:
the first thing i noticed was that geting the left side bearing out was hard i eventually got it out using a strong magnet
it gets even worse because after i got the bearing out i tried opening it and i think i heard something fly off. i think it was one of the retainer springs(does this bearing have two beacause one side still has one)
i then proceeded to be even dumber and took the right spool bearing out with the magnet and noted that it had no retainer spring and nether does the bearing in the handle
so i gues i have two questions-does the left side bearing have two retaing springs and how can the other two be lubed

Capt,
Ive done a something simillar.
I purchased a Abu 6500c3ct mag.
I took mine apart to look at the magnets and could not get my reel back together.

I came in here in a panic and was able to get the info to fix my reel from Surf Fish.

I recall calling my self a bone head and such.

You are in the right place cause people here can help.

If they are serviceable bearing you can just pop off the cover and use them like that, they just need to be maintained a little more that way. The spring you saw fly, was just a simple c-clip that holds the "dust shields/covers" on.

Just soak them in lighter fluid and put a drop of red or yellow rocket fuel on them.

thanks for the advice. so i can just get rid of the shields on all of the bearings in the real if i plan on servicing them rugularly or should i just remove the shields from the two bearings that the spool goes on and leave the handle one as is?

I would leave the one in the handle as is, just because grime tends to intrude near the handle more so than in the spool. You aren't gaining anything from taking the shields off other than its easier to clean the bearings better.

I haven't used the daiwa's personally so that might not be true if your reel.

for i prefer my bearings half open.
like on the daiwas. I tend to leave 1 shield on the bearing.
and thats the side that faces out toward spool.
shield prevents water splash, but the other side is open- for easy cleaning and lubing.

i got the bearing problem fixed-i'll just leave the spool ones half open and the handle one the same
now i have two more problems:mad:
i am almost done getting it all together but i can't figure out how the pawl thing goes in
also, i have found a washer that is about a 1/2 inch wide that i don't know where it goes:redface:
