I need help in choosing the best braided line for the money. I'm spooling up a Saltist 20H and a Saltist 30H. These are the current contenders that show merit. Any and all opinions are greatly appreciated as usual.

Per my name;
You can't go wrong with Fireline Crystal. All the bennies of a braid but with the abrasion resistance of mono . And talk about flexable, the more you use it the better it gets.
Hands down the best line ever made. (IMHO)

get a braid that is 8 weave or 16 weave, that's the best braid money can buy.
PJ, isn't a 5000 too small for an 11 ft'er?
TIP: close the bail manually.

8 or 16 weave is a waste of money unless your jigging for big fish which is what its made for
not everyone needs 16 weave and 40lbs of drag to bring in bait fish or even drums/stripers

he was asking what the BEST BRAID MONEY CAN BUY. if you don't have the money or if you CAN't AFFORD it, don't buy it, simple as that.
BTW, 8 weave is not only for deep sea jigging... RESEARCH it. if you didn't try it, or didn't even have it on your spool, how will you know the advantages it offers co9mpared toe other 4 weave powerblows.

out of his list where did he say any 8 or 16 weave braids? He asked whats the best braid for the money not the best you can buy. Not all of us need to buy braid thats designed for jigging for $2 a yard to catch fish

The ONLY thing I have experience with is PP. I have 30 lb on my Stradic 5000, 50 lb on one of my 525's and 80 lb on my 113HN Baja shark reel. I have ordered an Emblem Pro 5500 with 30 lb from Greg, and it depends on when he gets the Suffix braid in as to whether it comes with PP or Suffix. Based on the good things I've heard about Suffix, I'd like to try it, but if not, so far, PP has be belly belly good to me!

Work part time in bait and tackle. On braid, the one thing I have found and learned talking with all types of fishermen is that everyone has his or her own feelings on braid. Sounds like a cop out, but the best way I have found is to use one and then another until you find the one that is most fitted to your style of fishing. Myself, if I am going to use braid at all it will be the suffix. Have been using the suffix tri for a long time now and found the braid to be just as trust worthy, again, in my opinion for my style of fishing... hope this helps... salt

i prefer suffix braid out of the 6 strain braids the best
i was picking out of his 2
personally i havent ran into a fish that needs 16 weave and ive caught fish over 400lbs waste of money imo

16 weave is the best, it has 95% characteristics of mono but without the stretch.

Bass Buster: any idea what environment you're fishing in? What pound braid you're going to use, what fish you'll hit, how rough the environment is, etc.?
I'm planning on spooling up 65# Big Game Braid (15# mono diameter) as a backing w/ a 20#mono topshot on a Saltish 30H but that's for targeting stripers in the Cape Cod canal (lots of rocks, etc.).
I think BG braid is one of the best bang for buck braids that is supposed to cast well (in the 50-65lb range which is roughly 15-17# mono size).
As for all out best braid w/o the money factor, the hollow core 16-strand stuff (like Blackwater or Joe Brown) is pretty cool but for offshore applications. You join it to braid or mono by basically stuffing one piece inside another (3' in) and tension keeps it from slipping out. I found out about it recently when someone mentioned there is 16-strand braid. Bloody expensive though. If you spooled it up on your Saltist, it'd cost nearly as much as your reel ;-)

i use Fireline while on a boat, but use Sufix braid
onshore. i also will use Tuf-Line XP. to me this line
lb for lb (cost & performance) is perhaps the best,
and the most underrated!!!

I've fished PP since it hit the market... what's it been 15+ years now... never had problems with it cept for one spool a couple years back of 20#... got past that and never looked back... I get everything out of it I want... haven't seen the need to change to anything else... Power Pro gets my nod...

if you don't have the money to burn it certainly is a waste. why would you buy a 52'' BRAVIA when you can get a 52'' VIZIO?
wow thats almost double the size of the world record pacific sailfish gj on that lie!

i use sufix. it's you who haven't used and 8 weave or a 16 weave braid. when you get your hands on a fisherman adavantage braid, let me know how you'll like it.

started out 108# when we first caught it. along the way it grew to 700#.
i remember, during the "ernesto" hurricane last year while we were drinking, that sailfish was already 400# and longer than the boat we were in.

did you use it for surf fishing or deep sea?
any particular reason why you didn't like it?
More weave cost more money
Prices for 30lb (8 weave), 200-yard of Samurai surf braided line spool cost $34.95.
Samurai braided line might be the best but unpopular because the hefty price,
Suffix can get the job done and with the rebate, it’s no-brainer
My .02
i prefer fireline for conventionals.
its alot stiffer then braids, so its easier to reel in. and cast again.
it doesnt dig into itself as easily as other braids, because of its stiffness.
you can use fireline 20 or 30 depending on the reel.

Sufix for braid. But like what CDog said though... mono for conventional. On a personally level, I'm still learning on a conventional, and if I were to birds nest it, I rather lose out on the $6 for a spool of Sufix Seige. If I birdnest the Sufix braid, then we're looking more like $25 gone.
