I'm hoping someone can help me ID my first surf rod.The sticker with the manufactures name is worn off. There is a sticker thats still readable. It says S.I.R. Engineered for Fishing. It's 9' with all metal guides. It is a spinning rod. I believe it's rated for 1 to 3oz's. I believe I've thrown 7-8oz with it. It's two piece and won't come apart. I've tried everything to get it apart. I've had a couple guides replaced and both times I was told that when it was new that it was considered a very nice rod. One guy wanted to buy it from me. Seems I remember maybe Garcia or Berkley. I'm try to decide whether to keep it or sell it and if so whats it worth.

Yes it has a metal furrel. Too many rods. I've made the switch over to casting. I know, I know, I used to think the same way, you can never have too many fishing rods. I have to make room for the grand kids rods.

I have some old ones to...metal furrels came out in the 70s so rods could be broken down...I used to put vasaline on mine just to get them apart later...if the rod fishes, fish it...I have an older rod that has thousands of fish under its belt...gonna rebuild it as the guides were shot...yours may be when sears was big into fishing...OR NOT...could be anyone...try google...I have an 11' octagon bamboo rod, and when I look it up all I get is neo-nazi crap...lol
