Apparently WECT Channel 6, a local NBC affiliate in Wilmington, NC was reporting about the first shark attack of the year on the news this evening.

I can't find anything on the website about it and was not able to see the story. Can someone please fill in the details or post a link to the story online.

Thanks,
Robert

Thank you very much....Google wasn't as accommodating as yahoo apparently. I didn't have a chance at the moment to look elsewhere. Thanks again.

If they are wondering "How could this have happened?" I agree, darwin award nominee. But we all have done "stupid" things before in an effort to accomplish a goal or hobby. To each his own.

Going out in the chummed water....it doesn't take a brain surgeon to know that there is a risk. At least the diver was able to enjoy something so beautiful before he died. I am not making light of the situation, but many people die doing things that aren't near as enjoyable.

I dare say if any of us had a choice, we would rather die fishing or something equivalent as opposed to a car accident in the morning rushing to work.

RIP whoever this person was. There could be worse ways to go.

Yep, Darwin Award Gold medal for this guy.

Hey I won this Grizzly encounter trip. They take us up in the mountains, put a dozen or so rotten carcasses around the camp, we rub ourselves with female grizzly urine, and wait with our cameras. Wanna join us?

sharing the water with a crapload of sharks is a pretty humbling experience. i truly beleive that to be a case of mistaken identity when getting bit like that. caught up in the moment & not being careful enough to observe in the water from a distance to the chum.

Clueless is the word. About as clueless as the nutcase who did not follow instructions about not touching the sharks on a shark dive in Jamaica. The dive guide cussed him out under water, ended the dive immediately and then busted him on the boat. Was the first and last shark dive I'll ever do on.

R I P ...should have gone fishing instead of being bait...free dive with sharks is one thing...in a "frenzy" is another...seems he got the "cheapest" boat he could find...

Seems these attacks are become the new craze... I'll stick with the more mundane hook and bait approach to enjoying the water.
